Experimental protocol and timeline. Orofacial inflammation and pain were induced by s.c. Complete Freund’s Adjuvant (CFA) injection into the right whisker pad of male Wistar rats. Mechanonociceptive thresholds in the orofacial area were measured with von Frey filaments before and 3 days after CFA treatment. Blood and trigeminal ganglia (TG) were collected on day 3, plasma and tissue samples were stored at -80 °C for further processing
